Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic healthcare professional to join our team as the Lead Antenatal and Newborn Screening Coordinator.

This is a key leadership role responsible for the coordination, delivery and governance of the NHS antenatal and newborn screening programmes. You will ensure that screening services meet national quality standards, support safe clinical pathways and promote excellent outcomes for mothers and babies.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across the maternity, neonatal, laboratory, child health and community services, acting as the expert point of contact for screening within the Trust and liaising with regional and national screening bodies.

Main duties of the job

Lead and coordinate delivery of the following NHS screening programmes:

Infectious Diseases in Pregnancy Screening (IDPS)

Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Screening

Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme (FASP)

Newborn Blood Spot Screening

Ensure delivery of screening services in accordance with national standards and policies set by NHS England and UKHSA.

Act as the lead contact for screening incidents, audits, external quality assurance visits and service development.

Analyse and report screening data, lead service improvements and present findings at governance meetings.

Support and educate staff involved in screening across maternity, neonatal and paediatric care settings.

Liaise with key stakeholders including screening laboratories, child health departments, regional QA teams and public health partners.

Line management of the Antenatal and Newborn Screening team.

EXPERIENCE Essential
* In depth knowledge of national screening programmes ANNB / NBS / FASP etc
* Knowledge of SBLCBv2 and other relevant programmes
* Knowledge of Midwifery issues in the wider context of the NHS
* Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of Midwifery
* Knowledge of safeguarding issues - adults and children
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE Essential
* Capable of providing clinical leadership to the team
* Clinical Skills relevant to post.
