Job description
The qualified ANNP will use their expert knowledge and complex decision making skill, guided by The NMC Code in unpredictable situations. The ANNP is accountable for the total episode of care for patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed needs and is shaped by the context of their clinical practice. The ANNP must be able to demonstrate competence across the four key areas of the Advanced Nursing Practice Framework1. In addition the ANNP must show the ability to work at an advanced level and be able to apply the competence in the key areas of their scope of practice.
Responsibilities
* Use their expert knowledge and clinical judgement to decide whether to refer neonates for investigations and make diagnosis.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
* 5 years’ post qualifying experience to include 2 years’ experience in neonatal.

Desirable Skills
* Management experience and qualification.
* NLS instructor course.
* Ultrasound course.
* Clinical audit experience.
* Research skills.
* QI involvement.
