Job Title – Assessment Officer

Role summary –
We are looking for an experienced Assessment Officer to join our team, working remotely to assess and administer applications for statutory and discretionary schemes, including complex cases. You will deliver a prompt, accurate and customer-focused service while supporting colleagues through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
Salary – £24.56 LTD p/h
Key Responsibilities:
Assess and process applications for assistance in line with legislation and guidance.
Manage changes in circumstances, updating claims as necessary.
Undertake complex assessments, including adjudicating on fraud and disputed cases.
Review and revise decisions as required.
Provide clear written and verbal explanations of decisions and overpayments.
Check and provide feedback on the work of colleagues.
Support and coach new team members through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders via phone, email, and letter.
Contribute to service enhancement projects.
Monitor service compliance with local guidance and legislation.Requirements:
Previous experience in assessing and administering statutory and discretionary applications.
Strong understanding of relevant legislation and guidance.
NEC and (email address removed) system experience is essential.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Proven ability to handle complex cases and make sound judgements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
