An understanding of mental health and/or experience of working with children/young people with additional needs is an advantage.
The School
Cambian Home Tree School is an independent DfE-registered, co-educational day school which specialises in accommodating students who have Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. The school typically caters for up to 20 students aged between 12-18 years, with each classroom featuring different learning environments for alternative ways of learning. Individually tailored educational pathways are created to meet each student's needs.
As a Teaching Assistant, You Will
* Supervise and support students in both the classroom and off-site in the community.
* Assist the teacher in planning learning activities.
* Build and maintain positive professional relationships with staff and young people.
* Encourage and motivate students to learn and develop.
* Demonstrate good communication skills, including the ability to clarify and explain instructions clearly.
* Support students in small groups and on a 1-2-1 basis.
* Help students participate in learning activities by providing appropriate support for their specific difficulties.
* Produce legible, accurate, and prompt written reports/records.
* Assist students in accessing the national curriculum, including developing their literacy and numeracy skills.
