You will be responsible for supporting the council in promoting a positive health and safety culture and ensuring compliance with all health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
The Council Health and Safety Team collaborates with a wide range of front-line services, including Education, Social Work Services, Sport and Leisure Centres, Waste Services, Roads, Customer Services, and Community Assets, to support communities across Dumfries and Galloway.
Two Health and Safety Officer positions are available. One general Health and Safety Officer will support various services, while the Health and Safety Officer (Construction) will focus on construction and building engineering projects.
You will receive support from colleagues within the health and safety team and the wider organization.
Your responsibilities include providing health and safety advice, working closely with managers, employees, and safety representatives to mitigate risks, conducting site visits, supporting incident investigations, and proactively monitoring, auditing, and reviewing health and safety arrangements for continuous improvement.

Requirements
A current driving license is essential. Consideration will be given to applicants with disabilities that preclude holding a license if alternative transportation can be arranged.
