Senior Quantity Surveyor - M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) Sunderland (Office & Site Based Across the North East)

£75,000 + Company Car + Benefits

A well-established and growing building services contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (M&E) to join their commercial team based in Sunderland.

The company delivers high-quality mechanical and electrical installations across a wide range of sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, residential, and industrial projects. With a strong pipeline of secured work, this is an excellent opportunity to take a senior commercial role within a supportive and forward-thinking business.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial performance of mechanical and electrical packages, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and in line with contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial management of mechanical and electrical packages from pre-construction to final account

Procurement and management of subcontractors and specialist suppliers

Preparation and agreement of valuations, variations, and final accounts

Cost reporting, forecasting, and budget control

Contract administration under NEC, JCT, or bespoke contracts

Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities

Working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients

Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team

Maintaining strong supplier and client relationships

About You

You will be a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor with solid experience in building services or M&E environments.

Essential:

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within M&E / building services

Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical installations and project delivery

Experience managing subcontract packages and cost control on construction projects

Good knowledge of NEC and/or JCT forms of contract

Strong negotiation, financial reporting, and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively

Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar

Experience on medium to large-scale M&E projects

Professional membership (RICS or similar) or working towards chartership
