Post Title: Business Unit Manager, Marchwood
Thank you for your interest in becoming John Wainwright & Co LTD's Business Unit Manager for Concrete and Aggregates in Marchwood.
This is a pivotal new role in our business, leading the launch and growth of our concrete operations in Hampshire and surrounding areas. You'll be at the forefront of building something new – establishing our market presence, delivering outstanding products, and developing a high performing team. This is about more than running a site; it's about shaping a business unit that delivers commercial success while staying true to our values and commitments to safety, sustainability, and quality.
Reporting directly to the Development Director, you'll have full responsibility for day-to-day operations, from overseeing production and aggregate supply to meeting customer expectations and driving innovation in our product range.
You'll work closely with sales to win new business, develop strong customer relationships, and ensure we are the supplier of choice in the region.

Main Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Development Director, the Business Unit Manager will:
* Lead the launch and ongoing operations of our new concrete and aggregates business at Marchwood, taking full ownership of commercial performance, operational excellence and team leadership
* You'll establish Wainwright's presence in the Hampshire/South Coast market, winning new business, delivering high-quality products, and ensuring compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality standards.
* Maintain a strong focus on health and safety, promoting a culture where safe working is second nature
* You'll be responsible for P&L performance, setting and achieving budgets, and driving continuous improvement.
* Leading a dedicated team, you'll recruit, develop, and inspire them to deliver customer excellence, maintain strong supplier and client relationships, and grow market share.
* Ensure the consistent production of high-quality products, working in partnership with the technical team to maintain standards and specifications
* Monitor implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and minimise downtime
* With a strong commercial track record in concrete, construction materials, or related heavy industry, you'll combine leadership skill with hands-on operational knowledge.
* Collaborate with colleagues across the business to help deliver Wainwright's Sustainability Strategy
About you
To succeed as Wainwright's Business Unit Manager, you will have:
* Proven leadership experience in concrete, construction materials, or related heavy industry
* Strong business development track record with ability to win and retain customers
* Commercial acumen with P&L responsibility experience
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement, with a focus on safety, quality and efficiency
* Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
* Flexibility in adapting to business need
