These posts have arisen from additional funding from the North Central London Integrated Care Board (NCL ICB) aimed at reducing long waits for children's speech and language therapy assessment and intervention in Barnet and Haringey.
The post holders would form part of the Speech and Language Therapy Teams in Barnet, providing assessment, differential diagnosis, advice to children with speech, language and communication difficulties. The caseload would be a range of children in Early Years and/or Mainstream Schools depending on experience.
The post holder should have knowledge and experience of the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of developmental language disorder and social communication difficulties. They should also be knowledgeable and experienced in assessing, treating, and managing children and young people with syndromes or special educational needs that interact with their language development.

Responsibilities include:
1. To be responsible for clinical delivery of a specialist SLT service, including initial assessments and care packages for children with speech, language, and communication needs in Barnet and Haringey.
2. Complete assessments, develop individual programs, implement groups, provide specialist advice and resources, and review outcomes with a functional focus.
3. Collaborate with children, families, and professionals to achieve positive outcomes, offering support, programs, advice, and assessments.
4. Demonstrate clinical effectiveness using evidence-based practice and outcome measures, staying updated with current research and best practices.
5. Provide services sensitive to clients from diverse ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.
6. Liaise with educational staff to integrate SLT input into curriculum and planning.
7. Work closely with local Special Needs and Learning Support Services to ensure coordinated care.
8. Maintain links with other SLT teams within the trust for smooth transitions across phases.

About the role
We seek an enthusiastic SLT to join our large team, offering opportunities to develop skills and support children, families, and schools in Haringey and Barnet. We focus on early identification and intervention through programs like the Barnet SLCN graduated response and ELSEC in Barnet.
This is a 10-month fixed-term, Band 5-6 role. We welcome applications from current Band 5 or 6 SLTs, especially those with experience in early years clinics or mainstream schools. Support and training are provided for less experienced therapists. The role can progress from Band 5 to Band 6 based on skills and competencies.
