The role plays a significant part in ensuring the business success of UK Sales & Commercial, delivering financial planning and strategy to shape commercial decision-making that enhances sustainable profitable revenue growth across a range of products and services, on both medium and long-term horizons. The role involves ownership of end-to-end financial processes and strategy for Global Secure Solutions (GSS), partnering with the GSS Director to provide financial insight and guidance to support effective business strategy development, decision-making, and performance management. You will hold the GSS Senior Leadership Team accountable for delivering sales and profit targets, using financial data and commercial insights to drive action and optimize productivity and performance—both tactically and strategically.
What you'll be doing
1. Partner with the GSS Director to provide financial insight and guidance supporting effective strategy.
2. Lead a large finance team, ensuring clear accountabilities and aligned priorities.
3. Play a key leadership role in setting and shaping the future strategic direction of the business, ensuring financial leadership in translating strategy into practical solutions and daily practices.
4. Oversee and review forecasts and budgets, providing detailed feedback and insights on financial performance and risks.
5. Consider risk, regulation, and uncertainty in all short- and mid-term decisions, ensuring key risks are identified and managed in line with Group Risk Policy, establishing clear accountability and an appropriate risk culture.
6. Ensure the right investment decisions are made across the business, with impacts clearly understood.
7. Mentor, coach, and manage experienced professionals to develop team capabilities and performance.
8. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting and resolve data issues impacting productivity and compliance.
Qualifications and experience:
* Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
* Significant leadership and stakeholder experience within a highly matrixed environment.
* Experience working with commercial teams to deliver unit financials.
* Ability to interpret financial data into meaningful insights for decision-making.
* Willingness to voice opinions and explore innovative solutions; capable of creating a clear vision and delivering against key metrics.
* High-level analytical capabilities.
