Job Purpose (Role Definition):
Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain & Procurement, this position is to lead procurement activities to support production, R&D and the wider group business.
Leading logistics operations and warehouse management initiatives, including inbound and outbound supply of goods, inventory stockholding.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
* Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations
* Use of MRP to balance demand and supply
* Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and cost down initiatives
* Deliver briefs in line with departmental & business KPIs (OTIF, Open POs etc.)
* Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement
* Support development of KPIs, SLAs, and performance reporting for supplier delivery, warehouse inventory & distribution
* Ensure inventory is kept within approved limits (realistic & cost effective). Reduction of obsolescence in line with company targets
* Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities
* Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships
* Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures.
* Assess tenders and quotations from potential suppliers
* Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and in line with organisational targets and requirements
* Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
* Inventory management: supporting stock run in/out of new materials, working with counterparts in Engineering & Production to ensure no obsolescence
