The job itself
A creative and imaginative individual is looking for a patient, positive, and supportive Personal Assistant to help encourage engagement in enjoyable activities at home and in the community. This person has a great sense of humour, loves drawing and gaming, and enjoys spending time with much‑loved pets. They feel safest with people they know well and appreciate calm, clear communication.
They enjoy theme park rides, drawing, reading with someone, gaming, watching TV and films, visiting the park, going swimming, and spending time at the beach. Although they may sometimes find it difficult to leave their room, once out and about they are able to relax and enjoy activities with the right support.
They benefit from gentle reminders, encouragement, praise, and being listened to. Experience of supporting neurodivergent individuals would be advantageous as the individual has ADHD and Autism.
About the Role
The Personal Assistant will be responsible for:
1. Encouraging engagement in activities at home and in the community.
2. Helping to develop and strengthen social skills.
3. Providing reassurance, emotional support, and a settling presence.
4. Ensuring safety while out in the community.
5. Supporting the individual to work towards aspirations and potential.
6. Accompanying or transporting them to social activities and appointments.
7. Promoting social interaction, inclusion, and confidence.
About the Candidate
The ideal candidate will:
8. Be conscientious and committed to providing flexible support to meet the needs of the family.
9. Be patient, caring, and understanding.
10. Be able to build a positive, trusting relationship to encourage participation and confidence.
11. Communicate calmly and clearly, offering reminders and guidance when needed.
12. Have experience or knowledge of supporting neurodivergent individuals or those with additional needs.
