Offer description

Love History and enjoy bringing the past to life in a way that actually sticks? This could be one to read properly, kettle on. ☕

We’re working with a forward-thinking secondary academy that’s built around a clear mission, to inspire pupils to enjoy learning, aim high, and feel genuinely valued every day. Everything they do comes back to three shared values: Aspiration, Respect and Excellence, and you can feel it the moment you walk through the door.

The role is predominantly History, teaching across KS3 and KS4, with some wider Humanities teaching where it fits naturally. For the right candidate, there’s also the opportunity to teach A Level History. The curriculum is well sequenced, rich in British and world history, and places a strong emphasis on enquiry, critical thinking, and evidence-based argument, no box-ticking here.

You’ll be joining a friendly, collaborative Humanities faculty covering History, Geography and RE. It’s a team that plans together, shares ideas, and genuinely backs one another. Whether you’re an ECT finding your feet or an experienced teacher looking for a school that values your expertise, you’ll be supported and trusted to do what you do best.

A real strength of the academy is its year-based system, which creates a nurturing environment where pupils feel a sense of belonging and pride. Older students take on leadership roles, model positive behaviour, and help run events, all rooted in those shared values of aspiration, respect and excellence.

Outside the classroom, there’s an extensive extra-curricular programme, spanning sport, creativity and academic enrichment. Pupils work together, build confidence, and form strong relationships with both staff and peers, and staff are encouraged to get involved in ways that suit them.

Start dates are flexible, with opportunities from January 2026, April 2026 or September 2026, and applications are welcomed from both ECTs and experienced Humanities teachers.

What you’ll need:

1. UK QTS (or on track to achieve it)

2. A love for History and strong subject knowledge

3. The ability to build positive relationships and inspire curiosity

4. A commitment to inclusive, values-led education

What Protocol Education offers:

5. Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella companies

6. Free access to our online CPD Academy

7. Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant who actually listens

8. Opportunities that match your values, not just your CV

If you’re looking for a History role where pupils are motivated, values matter, and staff genuinely work together, this one’s well worth a conversation.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
