Dietetic Assistant Practitioner (Diabetes)
Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner - Dietetics (Diabetes) ABUHB
We are seeking a new member of the Dietetic team to support the work of the Diabetes Specialist Dietitians. This post is part time 22.5 hours a week, and would suit someone who is organised, likes to work in a healthcare environment and enjoys working in a caring role. We would value a candidate who is pro‑active with good communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and provide care in a compassionate manner. Some existing knowledge or experience working in diabetes structured education will be of benefit, but isn’t essential and full training will be provided.
The successful candidate will organise the work of a team of Diabetes Specialist Dietitians, planning education courses for adults with Type 1 Diabetes, helping the groups to run and monitoring the waiting lists.
Main duties of the job
This role sits as part of the Dietetic Team for specialist diabetes, based in the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport but travel to other sites will be required.
Our ideal candidate will also enjoy completing administrative tasks to support patient care and therefore have good IT skills.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience in the NHS
* Experience of working with people who have chronic medical conditions e.g. T1 Diabetes
Qualifications
* Relevant higher education qualification with nutrition component or equivalent e.g. NVQ/Level 3
* Good general education 5 GCSEs or equivalent
Skills and ability
* Good written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to use word processing software, spreadsheets and database software to maintain patient data
* Audit skills
