New Directions Education is recruiting dedicated, compassionate, and resilient SEMH Teachers to work across a range of specialist provisions in Wakefield, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

We’d love to hear from you if you:
1. Are a qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS or equivalent), with experience or a strong interest in SEMH or SEN
2. Have a good understanding of trauma‑informed and therapeutic approaches
3. Are confident managing behaviour using calm, consistent, and supportive strategies
4. Build positive relationships through empathy, patience, and clear boundaries
5. Are passionate about inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
What your role will involve:
6. Planning and delivering engaging, structured lessons tailored to SEMH learners
7. Teaching pupils across Key Stages 2, 3 and/or 4, depending on the setting
8. Creating a calm, predictable, and nurturing classroom environment
9. Supporting emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and re‑engagement with learning
10. Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, pastoral teams, and external professionals
11. Recognising and celebrating progress in all its forms – academic, emotional, and social
