The Sous Chef is a crucial role at Shark Club UK, integral to the smooth running of the kitchen and tasked with ensuring the delivery of premium-quality dishes to our esteemed customers. Reporting directly to the Head Chef, the Sous Chef will be responsible for managing the culinary team efficiently as well as supporting the overall operations of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen activities, overseeing food preparation, and maintaining high-quality control standards.
* Filling in for the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
* Developing new, innovative recipes and menus that appeal to our customer base, while maintaining the core values of Shark Club UK.
* Training and mentoring junior staff, ensuring they uphold the standards of the kitchen and improve their skills
* Managing and maintaining the inventory, focusing on minimizing waste and reducing costs where possible
* Ensuring all food and health safety guidelines are strictly followed, maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment
* Handling and resolving any issues or conflicts in the kitchen swiftly and professionally
Qualifications:
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role in a high-volume kitchen environment
* Excellent track record in kitchen management, including staff training
* Good understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, kitchen equipment, and appliances
* Strong leadership, team building, and communication skills
* Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask under pressure
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations, with food safety certification being a plus point
