Your Impact as our new Robotics Design Engineer:
* You’ll be a vital part of our R&D team, working on the design, development, and testing of complex electro-mechanical robotic systems.
* You’ll be doing rapid development and testing on proof of concept and prototype assemblies.
* Your expertise will contribute to the advancement of new dexterous hand products and systems.
* You’ll have the autonomy to drive projects forward, working in the R&D team which reports directly to senior management.
To be successful in this new Robotics Design Engineer role, we’d love to hear from you if you have many of the following skills, experience and personality:
* You will have a very keen interest in robotics and, ideally, have experience designing, building and developing robots either professionally or for your own projects.
* Proficient with at least one of MCAD & ECAD (ideally Solidworks and Altium). Experience with both is highly desirable.
* Excellent knowledge and skills working with C++ and Python in linux.
* Proven commercial experience in the design, specification, and assembly of complex electro-mechanical systems.
* A track record of troubleshooting and solving engineering problems that arise during the design, manufacturing, or testing phases.
This is an additional list of our 'Nice to haves':
* Design/specification/execution of hardware integration and testing (i.e. life testing, robustness testing).
* Experience with ROS.
* Excellent documentation skills.
* Actuator specification and design.
* Robotic joint design / kinematics.
* Mechanical power transmission.
* Understanding of materials properties, particularly metals, plastics and rubbers.
* Specifying components.
* Surface mount PCB assembly and rework.
* Electronic and/or mechanical system debugging.
* Commissioning the manufacture of components and subassemblies.
* Medium-volume, complex system manufacture and assembly processes.
* Design for Manufacture including: volume manufacturing processes (e.g. injection moulding), CNC machining, additive manufacturing.
* Knowledge of engineering drawings/tolerances/engineering specifications.
* QA/QC processes.
We’d also like you to have:
