Advanced Oncology Dietitian

Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic dietitian to join the oncology service at Southend University Hospital in the provision of a comprehensive service to patients requiring dietary support as a result of a cancer diagnosis.
In this role you will be the dietetic clinical lead for the oncology service and have the chance to review and develop the dietetic service in accordance with the service needs and national guidance.
You will work closely with the oncology consultants, clinical nurse specialists, speech and language therapists, pharmacists, other oncology dietitians across the Trust to help streamline services, as well as other members of the wider MDT.

Main duties of the job
You will join our team of 16 dietitians and 2 admin support staff to provide a dietetic service for patients with a cancer diagnosis.
Your role will include:
Specialist dietetic responsibility at an advanced level for patients with a cancer diagnosis, including a caseload of predominantly head and neck cancers.
Providing support and education for patient at diagnosis
Providing a service in AHP clinics for patients for pre-habilitation, on-treatment, post-treatment and rehab stages.
Liaising with other dietitians across sites to ensure effective hand over and continuation of patient care
Liaising with community teams regarding community tube fed patients
Providing a remote service to community patients who are tube fed or needing extra support
Liaising with local hospices for support of end of life patients
Research driven team often involved in audit
Cover to the oncology wards, in conjunction with the band 6 oncology dietitian.
Promoting dietetics and the role of the dietitian in oncology.
Service review and development.
