Job Description:
We are currently recruiting for a Mobile Mechanical & Electrical Technician to work for the SSPS (Small Sewage Pumping Station) Team. Working within the Home County and Thames Valley Regions.
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the maintenance of Pumping Assets in the field, across the West of the Thames Water region. Your role involves ensuring the proper functioning of Pumping Assets for our customers, 365 days a year.
You will work as part of an established and high-performing field team, directly impacting Thames Water’s performance in key areas. The role offers a diverse range of responsibilities, making each day different and challenging.
This position is based out of Maple Lodge, with preferred locations being Reading, Swindon, Banbury, or Oxford, covering the home counties and Thames Valley area.
PPE, tools, and a van will be provided.
Responsibilities include:
* Routine planned preventative and reactive maintenance of Small Sewage Pumping Stations (SSPS).
* Electrical or mechanical installation work at properties and sites of pumping stations.
* Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults.
* Reporting on the condition of pumping stations and identifying risks.
* Providing technical advice and training support.
* Liaising with external customers and contractors.
* Adhering to health and safety policies.
* Handling lifting of manhole lids and working within confined spaces.
* Responding quickly to faults, diagnosing problems, and implementing solutions efficiently.
* Communicating effectively with team members.
Work hours are 36 per week, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 3:36 pm, with standby duties compensated additionally. PPE, tools, and a van are provided.
Candidate requirements:
* Significant experience in electrical systems, ideally with a mechanical qualification (e.g., NVQ, C&G Level 3).
* 18th Edition wiring regulations certification.
* Mechanical upskilling is desirable for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical and electrical plant equipment.
* Health and safety awareness.
* Physical fitness for working in restricted spaces, with appropriate training.
* A valid driving license is essential.
