About the opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Cost Engineer to join our expanding team in London. You will play a vital role in helping Soben achieve its growth targets by supporting a key construction client in the region. Your responsibilities will include developing procurement and commercial strategies across various projects.
In this role you will:
* Manage cost engineers and estimators to develop cost planning and pricing for Civil Works projects.
* Coordinate with the Head of Estimating to ensure consistency in cost planning approaches.
* Produce cost planning and assurance documentation for internal and external use.
* Manage stakeholder relationships for estimating activities.
* Present, negotiate, and justify pricing with senior leadership and external partners.
* Support and mentor the estimating team, providing assurance and development support.
* Monitor and manage construction budgets, supporting change management processes.
* Provide quantification support during cost planning and estimating activities.
* Assist preconstruction and delivery teams with benchmarking data collection.
About you
Essential
* Proficient in Excel and similar software.
* Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
* Background in infrastructure main contracting, ideally in civil engineering.
* Commercial or operational experience considered.
Desirable
* Experience with Candy Estimating Software.
* Experience with RIB Cost X software.
* Knowledge of AACE estimating principles.
* Flexible and mobile.
* Chartered status (e.g., ICE, CICES, RICS, CIOB).
