Clerical Officer

Responsibilities
* Support the clerical team by providing comprehensive administrative services and facilitating forward booking of appointments and procedures for patients.
* Ensure a high‑quality service to patients and the directorate, complying with National and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals policies and guidelines.
* Accurately record patients’ arrival, departure, future care plan, 18‑week status, and clinical coding in the Patient Administration System.
* Use Trust computer systems to manage outpatient waiting lists in line with Trust/National policy and local and National targets (Connect, Workflow, ICE).
* Enter and maintain accurate data in the systems.
* Book new, follow‑up and diagnostic appointments for consultants and nurses.
* Ensure full utilisation of all available theatre lists through regular liaison with colleagues, including supervisors, service managers, clinicians and other administrative staff.
* Contact patients by telephone, text message or letter to confirm outpatient appointments and procedures, arrange hospital transport and adhere to Trust policy regarding patient confidentiality.
Qualifications
* GCSE at Grade C/4 in English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications). Experience of working within an office environment is essential.
* Efficient and organised with the initiative to prioritise workload.
* Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to liaise with staff at all levels.
