Offer description

Overview

The Warwick Mathematics Institute invites applications for the post of Assistant or Associate Professor, to start in September 2026. We are open to applications in all areas of pure and applied mathematics; those working in more applied areas with real-world applications are particularly encouraged to apply.

About The Role

Associate Professorships are permanent appointments and usually for those who already have a well-established track record in research and significant lecturing experience. Those appointed at the Assistant level are supported through a five-year probationary period to enable them to fulfil the criteria for promotion to Associate Professor.

About You

All applicants should hold a PhD and have already demonstrated excellence and independence in research along with an ability to teach effectively. We aim to appoint somebody who can make a strong contribution to both our research and our teaching, and who will make the most of the opportunities provided by our lively and vibrant departmental culture. For further information regarding the skills required for this role please see the personal specification section of the attached job description.

About The Department

The Warwick Mathematics Institute is internationally recognised for its research and our best undergraduates are a match for those at any other UK university. We run a wide range of weekly seminar series, and many workshops and conferences, for which our Mathematics Research Centre provides organisational support. A list of our staff and their research interests can be found at https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/maths/research/researchers, and you can see our undergraduate module pages at https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/maths/currentstudents/ughandbook. The department encourages career advancement and promotion of all staff, supporting promotion from Associate Professor to Reader and subsequently Full Professor in the same way that Assistant Professors are guided through the probationary process on their way to becoming Associate Professors. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment and welcome applications from groups underrepresented in UK mathematics. We currently hold a Bronze Athena Swan award and our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion committee shapes departmental policy. We are internationally diverse and offer relocation and Immigration Support Scheme packages to assist with costs of relocating and any associated visa applications and HIS (health) surcharge fees.

About The University

The University of Warwick celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. Since our founding in 1965, we have become a world-leading university with the highest academic standards. We are part of the UK's Russell Group of research-intensive universities and attract excellent students from both home and overseas. You’ll be joining a diverse and globally connected community committed to excellence in both research and teaching. We have a robust and transparent promotions system and will offer support as you pursue your ambitions.
