Enhanced Care Senior Mental Health Nurse (Band 6)

Ashford & St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is expanding its Enhanced Therapeutic and Observation Care Service (ETOC) and is recruiting for Enhanced Care Senior Mental Health Nurse (Band 6).
Reporting to the Enhanced Care Lead, successful candidates will provide a high standard of individualised direct patient care for those requiring an enhanced care plan.
Work closely with specialist teams such as the Psychiatric Liaison Team, ward/unit teams, and the wider MDT to deliver direct patient care across various settings within the Trust, including Urgent Care, Older Person's Care and Paediatrics.
Applicants must have current NMC registration and a minimum of 12 months experience in an acute mental health setting.
Main duties of the job
* Provide a high standard of individualised patient care, involving relatives/carers as appropriate.
* Coordinate, assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for people with mental health problems in the inpatient setting.
* Support and direct Enhanced Care Mental Health Nurses and Enhanced Care Support Workers in the care of ETOC patients.
* Participate in developing care plans with the Enhanced Care Lead, Urgent Care Matrons, Psychiatric Liaison Team LTs and ward staff.
* Promote therapeutic relationships that respect patients’ customs, values, spiritual beliefs and facilitate dignity, independence and choice.
* Assist staff with ongoing risk assessment of patients.
* Promote effective communication within and between the patient’s immediate care team and the wider MDT.
* Ensure evidence-based assessment and treatment incorporates cultural preferences, health beliefs, behaviours and traditional practices, respecting differences in gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religion and disability.

* Flexible attitudes and behaviours to support team working and delivery of objectives.
Qualifications and Further Training
* Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN).
* Educated to Degree level or willing to work towards one.
* Post‑registration training and studies.
* Mentorship course or equivalent, or willingness to work towards one.
Experience
* Experience working in an acute mental health setting.
* Evidence of professional updating of knowledge.
* Demonstrate clinical reasoning and decision‑making skills.
* Experience with audits, service development, research.

Salary
£41,957 to £50,387 a year, pro rata for part time, including HCAS.
