The Behaviour Programmes Unit is an award-winning marketing team responsible for social marketing in support of public health priorities. We are looking for a Business Support Manager to join our team to provide consistent, high quality and effective administration support for the team. You will have a pivotal role, working closely with senior management and leading on business support functions for the team, including Finance, HR, Risk and Recruitment. We are looking for people with an enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced and complex environment with a willingness to acquire new skills. This a diverse and interesting role with an opportunity to be involved in the day-to-day running of our behaviour change team. This role will provide operational support to the Behaviour Programmes Unit and lead on a range of corporate functions which include finance, accommodation, HR, governance, business continuity, risk management, staff engagement and internal communications. An important aspect of this role is identifying opportunities to make improvements to business processes when needed to ensure that methods are as efficient as possible and that all deadlines and targets are met by the team. This is a role where you will work with all members of the team and often be a liaison with colleagues in other teams as well. You will need to understand the needs of the wider team and be welcoming and approachable to all colleagues. Working closely with the senior management team ensuring they are kept up to date with any business developments and key information; communicating updates to the rest of the team; leading a regular Business Update meeting; attending and minuting meetings when required. Leading on recruitment for the Behavioural Programmes Unit, ensuring that all corporate procedures are correctly followed; liaising with the HR recruitment team; assisting with recruitment paperwork. Working with Business Support colleagues in the Directorate to ensure that we are aligned with their way of working and are accurately reporting on finance, HR, and risk. Leading on governance commissions for the team and co-ordinating and tracking other commissions that come into the Behavioural Programmes Unit. Support the effective management of finance for the team following DHSC financial governance processes and supporting colleagues to work with these processes; provide regular budget reports for the management team; undertake procurement of services, supplies and equipment as required and in line with corporate policy. Be a visible, positive and a competent role model and motivator; and contribute to the induction of staff. Support the senior management team with development and planning around Staff Survey outcomes. Organise and agenda regular team meetings and assist with the planning and organisation of Team Away Days. Person specification Key skills and experience required for the role Excellent organisational skills, the ability to juggle multiple priorities within a complex and often rapidly changing landscape and delivering at pace to achieve results.
