Overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Geomatics Analyst to join our team. You will be part of a small team processing survey data to support the delivery of our National Elevation Data Programmes, using specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from Remote Sensing survey instrumentation including our Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.
The Team
The Geomatics team, within National Monitoring Survey, provides specialist services to enable effective evidence across the business. This includes collection and analysis of high-quality Lidar, Aerial Photography, Bathymetry & Satellite data. The team works with National & Area teams to co-deliver monitoring requirements for the Environment Agency and the wider environmental community.
Experience/skills Required
* You will have a relevant degree level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with an understanding of operational applications.
* You will be able to demonstrate practical experience and broad GIS skills using ESRI products such as ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap, and experience of working with large and complex mapping datasets, preferably Airborne LIDAR.
* Experience of processing and carrying out quality control procedures on LIDAR datasets and LIDAR-derived Digital Elevation Models would be advantageous.
* You will be able to demonstrate experience in Remote Sensing techniques, analytical and problem-solving skills and good attention to detail, either through work or academic experiences.
* You will have good organisational skills and be highly motivated with a professional attitude. You must be able to communicate effectively and work unsupervised at times to meet challenging deadlines.
Additional Information
* The National Monitoring Survey team is a national team, located at various sites around the country and you can be based anywhere within working proximity to an EA office.
* You will be expected to travel to the Geomatics team hub base in Bath when required and may be asked to come into an EA office to meet team needs. The post is full-time, though requests for other working patterns will be considered.
* Interviews will be in-person at our Bath office and will include a technical GIS assessment and capability questions.

Competences
* Achieves Results - You should set and deliver high work standards, prioritise and organise tasks to ensure timely achievement of results, with flexibility as priorities change. Provide an example of analysing or processing a large dataset to a high standard and meeting deadlines. STAR format will be used in assessment.
* Data and Information Management - Demonstrate ability to collect, analyse, interpret, record, manage, develop and share data for various purposes. Handle, analyse and report on large survey datasets to create clear GIS products. Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS (or similar) and extensive recent experience with complex mapping data, preferably Airborne LiDAR. If you have carried out processing of Airborne LIDAR datasets, provide details of data types and software used. STAR format will be used in assessment.
* Scientific Knowledge - Apply scientific knowledge to provide sound, science-based evidence to internal and external customers. Provide examples of applying knowledge and remote sensing data to support technical and non-technical audiences. STAR format will be used in assessment.
