Business Unit
Our Wales & Western business unit is a dynamic and fast‑paced environment delivering multi‑disciplinary civil engineering projects across sectors including:
* Rail infrastructure — bridges, embankments, stations, platforms, tunnels, structures and more
* Transport for Wales capital and enhancement programmes
* Network Rail infrastructure works aligned to Control Period 7 (CP7)
* Environment Agency
* Local Authorities
* Various regional public‑sector and private clients
Current and upcoming works include CP7 infrastructure enhancements, minor works frameworks, Environment Agency programmes, and a range of structural improvement schemes such as bridge reconstruction/replacement, station upgrades (including Access for All), tunnel works, and footbridge refurbishments.
The Role
Reporting to a Project Manager, the Site Agent will take day‑to‑day responsibility for the management, delivery, and performance of a variety of rail and civil engineering projects across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure that all works are delivered in full compliance with:
o Applicable legislation
o Contract Terms and Conditions
o The Contract Health & Safety Plan
o Work Package Plans and Task Briefing Sheets
o Quality and Environmental Plans
* Deliver projects safely, on programme, and within budget
* Work collaboratively with site teams and commercial staff to manage costs and performance
* Monitor progress continuously and implement actions to maintain project delivery objectives
* Identify, agree, and effectively manage contract changes
* Produce formal progress and performance reports for the Contracts Manager
Requirements
To thrive in this role, you should bring proven experience as a Site Agent or strong Sub Agent ready for the next step, ideally within a rail‑focused civil engineering environment.
Essential:
* Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering (or requisite technical experience)
* PTS / SMSTS
* Prior experience delivering rail‑based civils projects (structures, bridges, stations, etc.)
* Strong understanding of rail standards, safety procedures, and stakeholder expectations
* Full UK Driving license
