Job Overview
The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water's region. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure. The role will provide support in the design and management of archaeological surveys, evaluations and other types of intrusive fieldwork as required, supporting the SPA Archaeology Team where needed. Tasks include authoring written deliverables and producing supporting maps for specifications.
The role is flexible, working from the Peterborough office on a weekly basis and from home on other days, with dates to be agreed.
Responsibilities
* Produce archaeological risk maps identifying areas of high, moderate and low risk, based on available historic environment data. The risk map is dynamic and will be updated at regular intervals in response to the developing design and baseline understanding.
* Work in collaboration with other SAT members and share updates with the team on a regular basis.
* Use the information gathered during the risk-mapping exercise to produce historic environment desk-based assessments.
* Attend site walkovers and visit archives and record offices to gather baseline information.
* Use the information gathered during the risk-mapping and desk-based assessments to inform the design of archaeological surveys and evaluations.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Ability to use ArcGIS software independently.
* Experience of archaeological fieldwork to inform survey design.
* Demonstrable experience producing archaeological and historic baselines, impact assessments and deliverable figures.
* Experience of working on linear projects, preferably pipelines.
* Personal responsibility for supporting programme delivery, especially in risk-based approaches, cost control, and programme management.
* Flexibility to work across several projects and meet required deadlines.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Effective organizational/analytical skills.
* Experience of using GIS.
Qualifications
* Member of CIfA, Practitioner or Associate level.
* Full driving licence.
* ArcGIS software to produce mapping and datasets.
