Overview
To work as part of the phlebotomy team in supporting the medical and nursing staff, by obtaining samples from patients by venepuncture and ensuring they are correctly labelled and transported to the Pathology Department for processing. A Phlebotomy Service is provided to inpatient wards, and assists with complicated and difficult venepunctures in outpatient clinics/departments. The work involves handling biological samples and paperwork associated with this process; therefore the Trust and departmental health and safety policies must be adhered to at all times.
Responsibilities
* Obtain samples from patients by venepuncture and ensure they are correctly labelled and transported to the Pathology Department for processing.
* Support the phlebotomy service provided to inpatient wards and assist with complicated and difficult venepunctures in outpatient clinics/departments.
* Adhere to Trust and departmental health and safety policies when handling biological samples and related paperwork.
Qualifications and Selection
