As Head of Project Controls, you’ll be at the heart of the UK’s energy transition, making a real impact on our cleaner, greener future.
Responsibilities
* Establishing and managing project controls frameworks for major infrastructure projects, covering cost, risk, schedule, document, and change control.
* Leading integrated project planning with planners, estimators, and project managers to set robust baselines and ensure consistency.
* Monitoring and reporting on project performance, cost, schedule, earned value, and risk, providing critical insights to senior leadership.
* Managing the change control process, ensuring all impacts are understood, documented, and agreed before implementation.
* Coordinating governance inputs for board reviews, audits, and reports, ensuring accuracy and readiness.
* Overseeing forecasting in partnership with Supply Chain, Commercial, and Finance teams for precise financial projections and resource allocation.
* Driving risk and opportunity management, ensuring risk registers are actively managed and used to inform decisions.
* Championing best practice across the Net Zero programme, promoting standards, tools, and templates to enhance delivery.
About You

Key Requirements & Experience
Essential:
* Proven leadership in project controls for major infrastructure projects, ideally in energy, utilities, or regulated industries.
* Deep expertise in planning and scheduling tools (e.g. P6, PRISM), estimating, cost control, forecasting, EVM, change and risk management, and document control.
* Strong understanding of commercial contracts (especially NEC) and the integration of project controls.
* Excellent data and analytical skills, able to spot trends, explain variances, and guide strategic decisions.
* Organised, methodical, and adept at managing competing demands.
* Outstanding communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
* Experience leading teams in a high‑performance, data‑driven culture.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with hydrogen or net zero infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
