Yard Supervisor:
Yard Supervisor required for independent builder's merchant in Carmarthen "All Trades Supplies".

The role is permanent and full time.
The hours of work are:
Monday to Friday 7.30am - 4.30pm or 8am - 5pm
Alternate Saturday mornings 8am - 12pm (March - September)
The position would report directly to the branch manager.
The position is based on site in Carmarthen – The Old Tin Works, Priory Street, Carmarthen which has recently undergone a large transformation to deliver a fantastic facility for our customers to shop at.
It's not necessary to be bilingual, though we do have Welsh and English speakers and encourage the use of the Welsh language.

Main responsibilities would include:
Team Supervision & Leadership
* Oversee yard staff, including delegating tasks, monitoring performance, and providing training.
* Organise shift patterns and ensure adequate staffing levels.
* Support in motivating the team to meet operational and customer service goals.
Stock & Inventory Control
* Ensure accurate stock handling, storage, and rotation.
* Conduct stock checks and work with the branch manager on stock discrepancies.
* Oversee loading/unloading of deliveries and maintain correct documentation.
Health & Safety Compliance
* Enforce health and safety standards in the yard (manual handling, forklift use, PPE, etc.).
* Carry out regular safety checks on equipment and site areas.
* Ensure safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians within the yard.
Customer Service
* Assist customers with locating and loading building materials.
* Provide product knowledge support where required.
* Maintain a professional and helpful attitude, ensuring excellent customer experience.
Operational Efficiency
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe yard layout.
* Ensure vehicles are loaded accurately and efficiently for deliveries/collections.
* Coordinate with sales and warehouse teams to support smooth operations.
Compliance & Administration
* Maintain accurate paperwork for stock movements, deliveries, and returns.
* Report incidents, accidents, and maintenance issues promptly.
* Support branch targets by reducing waste, errors, and inefficiencies.
Providing customers collecting with excellent customer service and assisting them to load their vehicles.
Pre picking orders and loading own vehicles for delivery.
Unloading stock from supplier vehicles.
Maintaining high standard of housekeeping within the yard and warehouse areas.
Our ideal candidate would have the following:
1. Previous experience in a yard/ warehouse operation and management.
2. Previous experience using a forklift and side loader.
3. Ability to work as part of a team and independently once training is provided.
4. An understanding of the construction industry would be advantageous.
