Spencer-Richardson is seeking a new Finance Director
Following a change in ownership, Spencer-Richardson has been retained to source a new Finance Director for a leading national building products distributor. The company is entering a period of transformation and growth. The successful candidate will have overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects, including strategy, analysis, and recommendations. You will manage both the day-to-day finance operations and corporate finance, ensuring the business remains healthy, performs well, and supports strategic decisions with accurate and sound advice. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will also have a dotted line to the Group Finance Director. As the business grows, so will the Finance function and this role.
The ideal candidate will be hands-on, strategic, and commercially aware, supporting decisions that will shape the companys future growth.
The role is hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days on-site per week.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Providing strategic and financial guidance to meet financial objectives.
2. Reviewing, developing, and implementing policies, controls, and procedures for sound financial management.
3. Leading a small finance team.
4. Ensuring all financial targets are met and compliance with financial and statutory regulations.
5. Providing financial advice and guidance to senior stakeholders as needed.
6. Overseeing the preparation of the companys financial accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
7. Reviewing current system usage and advising on efficiency improvements.
8. Maintaining strong technical knowledge of statutory accounting and financial processes.
9. Demonstrating a proactive, team-oriented mindset; experience in a fast-paced scale-up environment is highly beneficial.
10. Exhibiting strong communication skills and change management experience.
11. Being a critical thinker and problem solver.
