Overview
To undertake various administrative duties associated with the custody and use of Health Records as well as those associated with a patient's admission and/or attendance to the Trust, as outlined in the Patient Access Policy (OP39).
It is expected that staff will undertake duties relating to any aspect of service provided by the Patient Access Services Team. It is expected that staff will be able to demonstrate a significant level of initiative in organising their workload and in taking decisions and action within clearly defined limits. To ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Responsibilities
* Undertake clerical/reception and appointments duties in connection with the administration processes within Patient Access services.
* Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues face to face and over the telephone; input information using a keyboard.
* Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
* Be flexible and able to cover in the absence of colleagues.
* Demonstrate a mature outlook when dealing with sensitive and confidential issues.
* Organise workload with initiative and act within clearly defined limits.
Qualifications / Skills
* Excellent communication skills both face to face and over the telephone.
* Proficient keyboard input for data entry.
* Mature and professional approach to sensitive and confidential issues.
* Flexibility and the ability to cover in the absence of colleagues.
* Ability to work with initiative and within defined limits.
