JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE OF POST: Culture & Placemaking Social Media Executive Freelance RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Marketing Manager Rate: £150 per day 3 days a week HOURS: 21 hours per week. Evening and weekend work will be required CLOSING DATE: Friday 22nd May 2026 JOB PURPOSE As part of our ambitious plans for culture, creativity and regeneration, w e are now looking to appoint a freelance social media executive to work closely with the RDA’s Culture and Placemaking team, partners and stakeholders to: Work closely with the borough’s rich arts and cultural sector, visitor attractions and diverse businesses to generate engaging content for our social media channels. Create content to support the team in raising the profile of the borough. We want to: Attract new visitors to the borough and encourage them to stay longer, Encourage creative businesses to set up home here and; Build audiences for cultural programmes from across the borough and beyond. Apply insights and analyse content to identify what content does and doesn’t work Liaise with the wider marketing team to plan and execute content and administrate websites if required Engage in and articulate hyperlocal place based identities, including high streets and town centre districts. PERSON SPECIFICATION Education and Qualifications Degree which includes marketing Demonstrable experience of delivering successful social media campaigns Experience The ideal candidate should have: Excellent proficiency in both written and spoken English, enabling effective communication and the creation of engaging content. A proven track record of creating exciting, dynamic copy. A proven track record of creative content creation for social channels. A professional and creative portfolio, showcasing their work to date. Experience with social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. An analytical approach with the ability to strategise content creation across multiple social channels. Proficient experience working with graphic design software such as Canva, as well as confident video editing skills, showcasing the ability to enhance visual elements of social content. Understand organic SEO and the part which social media plays in this. Thorough understanding of GDPR. Experience in administrating websites Skills and Abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders. Strong marketing and promotional skills, with the ability to create compelling content for various platforms. Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and content management systems. Exceptional organisational skills coupled with meticulous attention to detail, guaranteeing accuracy and precision in asset creation. Strong time management abilities, enabling efficient handling of multiple tasks and meeting deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain close relationships with key stakeholders and external agencies. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
