Assistant Accountant Location: Tamworth - Office based (Occasional travel) Reporting to: Finance Manager Salary: Up to £28,000 study support Overview An established and growing organisation is seeking an Accounts Assistant to support the financial operations of a key business division. This role offers exposure across financial reporting, performance analysis, and budgeting, providing strong development opportunities within a supportive finance team. Key Responsibilities Support the preparation of monthly management accounts Assist with financial performance analysis and reporting Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes Produce and maintain monthly KPI and performance reporting Support variance analysis against budgets and forecasts Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required Day-to-Day Duties Posting financial transactions including cash and revenue-related entries Preparing and posting journals Monitoring customer receipts, outstanding balances, and retention schedules Supporting month-end close processes and reporting timelines Collating and analysing operational and financial data Skills & Experience Strong analytical and Excel skills Ideally have experience in construction (desirable) Good understanding of financial and commercial performance drivers including: Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet reporting deadlines Confident communication and stakeholder engagement skills Experience working with large or complex datasets is beneficial Qualifications Working towards or interested in studying a recognised accounting qualification (e.g. AAT / ACCA / CIMA) Desirable Experience Experience within project-based, contracting, or operationally focused environments Experience working with evolving or unstructured financial data Personal Attributes Detail-oriented and conscientious Professional and reliable Strong analytical mindset Collaborative and able to build effective working relationships Interested to find out more?
