Job Summary/Purpose
Responsible for providing high-quality and professional legal advice on retail regulatory matters. This includes performing legal functions, advising on policies, and understanding applicable rules and processes in strategic areas. Leads complex regulatory proceedings, including litigation, with minimal supervision, and effectively uses contacts and resources to achieve goals. Functions effectively within the larger company context.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
1. Handle routine tasks independently and solve complex problems with minimal supervision. Analyze transactions, litigation documents, and ensure regulatory compliance. Demonstrate superior legal writing and advocacy skills. Represent the company ethically before regulatory agencies and courts.
2. Possess in-depth expertise in applicable regulations and advise on developing strategies. Analyze issues, organize thoughts, draft documents, negotiate, and manage legal matters, including trial and appellate work. Manage outside counsel efficiently and perform high-quality legal work independently.
3. Support organizational development by viewing challenges as growth opportunities.
4. Supervise paraprofessionals and legal staff, develop their skills, and demonstrate leadership in project teams. Practice focused listening and respectful interaction.
5. Deliver difficult messages skillfully to diverse audiences.
6. Work effectively within a matrixed organization, demonstrating confidence and leadership without direct authority, and collaborate across business groups to deliver legal excellence.
Minimum Requirements
1. Juris Doctor degree required.
2. 9+ years of legal experience (12-15 preferred) in law firms or in-house, in areas such as Regulatory, Corporate/Commercial, Litigation, Labor & Employment, Nuclear, Environmental.
3. Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills. Deep industry knowledge aligned with company values and objectives.
