We are currently looking for a locum consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist to work within the EDT Harrow CAMHS (CNWL) to cover maternity leave; CNWL CAMHS is a transformed service with Urgent Care Teams who, within Harrow, provide urgent nurse-led CAMHS assessments to A+E.
The postholder will contribute to the daytime duty consultant rota in Harrow CAMHS.
In Harrow CAMHS you will work alongside 5 consultant psychiatry colleagues, two SpRs (St Mary’s Higher Training Scheme), two specialty doctors and a core trainee. The MDT offers a number of training placements including to clinical and counselling psychology trainees, systemic therapy trainees, child psychotherapy trainees and student nurses.
There are opportunities to be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching/training as well as research with academic links to Imperial College London.

Main duties of the job
As a Consultant Psychiatrist you will be supported to work as an integral part of a multi disciplinary care team (MDT) consisting of nursing staff, clinical psychologists, systemic family psychotherapists, child psychotherapist, administrative staff. The role involves assessing and developing care plans for children with the range of Emotional Disorders and related complexity. You will join the day time duty consultant rota.

Each CAMHS service has its own local management structure: HIllingdon CAMHS has a Lead Psychiatrist, Therapies lead and team manager who work closely with the outer boroughs service manager.The LD Team has a Band 8 a Psychology lead or an equivalent Lead Behavioural Analyst. You will work closely alongside core camhs (which has 3 sub-teams,NDT, EDT and ETT ( each with a psychiatry and therapy lead). The postholder will be part of the local CQPMG and montly business meeting. HIllingdon team is a friendly, inclusive and respectful team which is becoming increasingly well established and staffed by a large multi-disciplinary team of clinicians. We aim to provide an accessible, flexible and responsive local service for patients and professionals working with children in the area using a range of therapeutic interventions including behaviour, systemic, CBT, IPT-A, DBT, psycho-dynamic and group therapies as well as psychopharmacological approaches. The team has a monthly CPD session and business meeting, a monthly local consultants meeting.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
·To provide psychiatric leadership to the EDT together with the other EDT consultant psychiatrist
·To provide clinical input to the EDT including conducting initial assessments, psychiatric assessments, risk assessments and treatment including initiation and monitoring of pharmacological treatments.
·Supporting the EDT MDT with regard to comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and management planning, guided by the CAMHS care pathways and clinical model.
·Providing psychiatric consultation to the EDT MDT and the wider CAMHS team when indicated
1. The post holder will be expected to support the MDT in working to their job plans with regard to expectations of 16 clinical contacts per week (which includes one new assessment and 15 other clinical contacts) for staff with no supervisory or management responsibilities.
2. Liaison with NHS England, Commissioners and Tier 4 services when referral to Tier 4 is indicated.
3. Liaison with Tier 4 services and contribution to CRAFT and CPA meetings.
