Consultant Radiologist – Interest Haematology & Whole Body Imaging

Full‑time 10 PA post to cover a consultant vacancy and meet growing demand for radiology across Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. The role supports general radiology services at all out‑trust sites including CT, MRI, Ultrasound and plain film reporting. Candidates should have an interest in developing a subspecialty that complements the department’s skill mix. The post requires working cross‑site, joining the out‑of‑hours rota (evenings and weekends) – overnight services are outsourced.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive patient‑directed clinical radiology services: CT, MRI, Ultrasound, plain film, biopsies and on‑call cover.
* Deliver high quality reporting and imaging across all modalities.
* Participate in out‑of‑hours and weekend cover; maintain clinical governance and audit standards.
* Lead appropriate training, audit and research activities in collaboration with the Clinical Lead and colleagues.
* Ensure compliance with GMC Good Medical Practice, patient confidentiality, statutory training and clinical management responsibilities.
Person Specification
Essential
* Registered medical practitioner with GMC licence.
* Entry onto the Specialist Register (or within six months of obtaining CCT) in Radiology.
* Relevant higher medical qualification – e.g. FRCR or equivalent.
* High standard of clinical skill across all imaging modalities; ability to contribute to the full range of radiological practice, including on‑call rota.
* Experience in audit, research and clinical governance.
* Management training or willingness to complete such training after CCT.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to supervise postgraduate trainees.
* Capacity to teach undergraduate and postgraduate trainees; ability to deliver teaching on clinical and lay groups.
* Strong commitment to continuing professional development and to service improvement.
Desirable
* MD or equivalent higher degree or evidence of relevant research.
* Experience in CT and MRI subspecialty.
* Familiarity with service organisation and development.
* Publications in peer‑review journals.

* Salary: £113,565 to £150,569 per annum (excluding LW).
