Description
This role is a Client Manager within the Institutional Client Management team focused on the UK, Insurance and MEA client base. You will partner with the Sales team to ensure clients enjoy an excellent ongoing relationship and experience with the firm.
Responsibilities
* Own the ongoing relationship and experience for existing and new institutional clients in line with contractual agreements and Columbia Threadneedle standards.
* Pre‑win:
o Establish client service intent and map to the firm’s capabilities.
o Set and manage service expectations with the client.
o Investigate and challenge potential service complexities.
o Identify and drive solutions to service needs.
* Onboarding, implementation and change:
o Manage client engagement throughout the event, including negotiation of contractual documentation.
o Engage internal teams and own the event from the client perspective.
o Ensure clear understanding of client service intent internally as it evolves.
o Finalize mandate guidelines/restrictions and rebate terms with the client and ensure correct coding internally.
o Agree and document the proposition with the client and internally.
o Set up provision of required regulatory or other information to the client.
o Support the client through AML/KYC and other due diligence requirements.
o Verify that service setup and first deliverables match client expectations.
* Ongoing client experience:
o Own the ongoing client relationship, partnering with Sales colleagues for a unified engagement experience.
o Alert Sales to potential cross‑sell, upsell or defence opportunities.
o Take accountability for resolving investment‑ and service‑related issues, coordinating with internal teams.
o Navigate the firm for the client, bringing the right experts into meetings.
o Proactively monitor delivery against the service proposition and address inefficiencies.
o Identify and respond to regulatory or industry changes that impact the client.
o Drive client‑specific and thematic improvements to their experience.
o Conduct periodic service reviews and consult with the client to improve their experience.
* Role contribution:
o Build internal partnerships across the firm to drive better outcomes for clients and partners.
o Work with the team to identify and migrate activities to the relevant centre of expertise.
o Contribute to identifying and driving opportunities for consistency of engagement and delivery across regions.
o Identify and drive process efficiencies, simplify controls and design/provide management information.
o Contribute to the delivery of strategic change within the team.
Qualifications
* Established experience managing institutional client relationships, including Segregated mandates.
* Investment management experience: solid understanding of fund management, financial instruments, administration processes, performance analysis and reporting.
* Structured, detail‑oriented individual.
* Strong collaboration skills across teams and within the business.
* Excellent listening skills with an assertive, empathetic approach to stakeholder engagement.
* Good self‑organisation and time‑management; able to work under pressure to short deadlines.
* Demonstrated drive and enthusiasm for building a first‑class service management function.
* Clear decision‑making and sound judgement; strong problem‑solving especially around data and process.
Work Arrangements
In‑Office Collaboration: Our culture is relationship‑based and strongly values face‑to‑face collaboration. Employees work from the office at least four days per week, with flexibility to work from home one day per week. Specific in‑office expectations may vary by role and will be discussed during the hiring process.
