The Spacecraft Production Operator plays a critical role in the assembly, integration, and testing of advanced spacecraft payloads and active antennas. This position is ideal for a skilled technician who thrives in a high-precision, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Safety First: Adheres to strict health and safety protocols, including the safe handling of hazardous materials in accordance with COSHH regulations.
Assembly & Integration: Performs mechanical and electrical integration of spacecraft components, including payload equipment, coaxial cables, waveguides, thermocouples, heater circuits, accelerometers, DC harnesses, and structural elements.
Technical Interpretation: Reads and interprets complex technical documentation such as schematics, wiring diagrams, and 2D/3D general assembly drawings.
Testing & Validation: Conducts automated and manual RF/electrical tests using advanced Payload Test Systems. Reviews performance data and identifies non-conformances.
Workplace Excellence: Maintains high standards of cleanliness and organization through 5S practices, tool control, and process confirmation.
Continuous Improvement: Actively contributes to team performance initiatives, including Kaizen and SQCDP activities.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Demonstrated experience in a production environment focused on mechanical assembly or electrical/RF testing.
HNC or HND in Engineering (Production or Maintenance).
Completed apprenticeship in Aerospace, Space, or a similarly high-precision industry.
