Senior Housing Solicitor / Managing Solicitor – Sheffield (and one other location, TBC)
Salary: Grade 7 - £49,499 per annum
Contract: Permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week

Join Shelter as a Senior Housing Solicitor. In our mission to drive systemic change and fight for justice, we look for a dedicated solicitor with specialist knowledge in housing and homelessness law and a strong commitment to addressing the housing crisis.
About The Role
You will ensure your team delivers high‑quality legal services, manage our Legal Aid Contract, and supervise the legal team advocating for clients with housing issues. Your main responsibilities include:
* Managing and supervising caseloads and providing professional support, including independent file reviews, time recording, and good case management.
* Carrying out your own housing litigation caseload.
* Contributing to the strategic direction of Shelter legal services nationally, leading strategic change aligned to Shelter’s strategy and ensuring Legal Aid contract requirements and performance targets are met.
* Identifying test‑case opportunities to address systemic bad practice and achieving change for a greater number of people.
* Working closely with the Head of Legal Services, Hub Management Team, and teams within Communications, Policy and Campaigns, and Business Development.
* Participating in management team meetings and collaborating with other teams.
About You
* Experienced housing solicitor, court advocate with a minimum of 4 years post‑qualification legal practice experience.
* Supervisor status and substantial knowledge of housing and homelessness law.
* Ability to carry out research and policy analysis in housing, homeless and welfare law, and produce reports and presentations.
* Strong management and supervision skills.
