Your next role
The Hearing Support Team are seeking to appoint an 0.6 FTE Advisory Teacher of the Deaf to join our highly regarded and established team in Swindon from January 2026.
Swindon is a borough that embraces diversity, with a rich tapestry of languages, cultures, and backgrounds represented in our schools. Swindon is a small unitary authority that is easily accessible and is an exciting and innovative place to work; having been selected by the DfE as a joint leader within the South West for the SEND Change Programme Partnership. The Hearing Support Team operates within a newly structured Achievement and Inclusion Service within Children’s Services and is centrally located close to the town centre.
To meet the criteria for this role, you should be a qualified Teacher of the Deaf or an experienced teacher willing to undertake the mandatory training. To work as a Teacher of the Deaf (ToD) in the UK, mandatory training is required to obtain a specialist qualification. This qualification equips teachers with the specialised knowledge and skills to support children and young people with hearing loss.
You will have an interest in multi-professional, holistic working with a commitment to inclusion. You will be able to use your experience and skills to enhance the provision for children and young people across the educational sector.
This role offers hybrid working, allowing you to work either from home, or from one of our offices when you are not travelling.
This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
The ability to travel throughout the Borough will be required / in order to be available to support sessions and events around the town.
