Job Overview
The Regional Engineering Manager is the Operational owner of all work streams in their assigned region. They will primarily be fully accountable for the service of our customers' PPMs and of the Extra works in region to drive revenue for the business, ensuring at all times this is done to the highest standard. You will ensure that our people are always working safely and always go home safely. You will also be an excellent problem solver as you will still need to achieve financial targets set by the HoFE as well as our PPMs to ensure compliance. Margin enhancement initiatives (MEIs) are critical to the business; these will be set to you by the HoFE. You will own these and will live by the ethos of “make it happen.” You will also ensure the region is fully compliant at all times and will assist in external audits such as NSI & BAFE.
* You will have total ownership of all work streams in your region and will be measured on its success.
* You will be an excellent communicator and will always “own" the message.
* You will be fully in control of all credits in your region and understand the main reason for this.
* Financial control of overtime and ensure we only allocate this where the customer pays for it.
* Hold performance reviews with the RPS to ensure we get the best possible out of our field engineers.
* You will ensure that you keep to the training budget set by the HoFE.
* Ensure steady progress on the training plan developed in conjunction with the RPS.
* Ensure the region has coverage of all the skills sets and postcodes including security clearance.
* Telematics: you will review this at regular intervals and conduct interventions to ensure that our people are driving safely and protecting the public.
* You will own the fleet and cost for this in your region.
* FTF% should be above 80%; REM should own this cadence.
* Manage absence & sickness within region and follow appropriate guidelines.
* Grow yearly our apprentice teams.
Main Duties
* Deliver KPIs in region.
* Manage productivity, utilisation and availability.
* Manage the engineer incentive scheme to ensure all necessary checks have taken place.
* To operate to the highest business standards, manage risk and protect the Mitie brand.
* Develop our RPS team and Field Line Supervisors (seniors) in your region; ensure skills matrix is updated regularly.
* Ensure our service/staffing levels allow us to maintain highest performance for our customers.
* Work with scheduling to ensure we work with best practice.
* Hold daily calls with the scheduling team to ensure the region is on point and make changes necessary to ensure smooth running.
* In conjunction with the RPS you will ensure that timesheets are accurate and reflective of what was worked.
* Link in with KAMs on site-specific issues as required.
* Ensure we get the best out of our Subcon where we use them.

* Previous and demonstrable experience of managing complex field-based teams.
* Strong management skills.
* Working knowledge of current standards and codes of practice.
* Good problem-solving skills.
* Highly self-motivated and reliable.
* Adaptable and willingness to work in a flexible fashion.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to assess technical risk.
* Strong ability to interpret MI data.
