Senior Commercial Planning & Reporting Manager

The purpose of this role is to lead on the development of the commercial plan which sets out forecasts and targets for all People’s Partnership products – based on a good understanding of our position in the markets we operate in. The role will also closely monitor the plan and support the development of proposals to improve performance on an ongoing basis.
This output of the role is a critical input to understanding the performance of our current and future commercial activities and to making timely decisions in order to improve effectiveness and make well informed commercial decisions.
This role will establish close relationships with the key decision makers in the Commercial department and develop a clear understanding of their priorities to lead on the development of a compelling commercial plan.
Responsibilities:
i) understand the market context and our current commercial performance
•Responsible for developing market insight for all products (e.g. market sizing, market share and level of wins / losses)
•Work with the Commercial leadership team to define our market ambition, based on an understanding of our current commercial performance vs the market, and based on an understanding our current competitive position (e.g. Proposition quality vs competitors).
•Responsible for creation of product profitability analysis.
•Responsible for developing plans to drive improvements to product profitability, with outputs feeding into the commercial plan.
ii) identify improvements to be made and create business cases
•Lead on the annual development / update of 5-year commercial plan covering:
oAssumptions – new business, retention, transfers etc (working with Commercial Leadership team / Commercial SMEs)
oProposed commercial initiatives to improve commercial performance (working with Commercial Leadership team / Commercial SMEs)
oAUM forecasts (with analysis of drivers of changes in AUM), Revenue forecasts and Unit cost forecasts (working with the Finance & Actuarial teams)
oDevelopment of Critical Success Factors & Key Performance Indicators (working with Commercial Leadership team / Commercial SMEs)
•Support Commercial Teams on the production of all financial analysis to support commercial business cases (referring certain business cases to the Actuarial Team where more appropriate)
iii) & iv) embed plans into the business plan/roadmaps and monitor the outcomes
•Work with Commercial Leadership team to embed commercial plans into organisational strategic plan (e.g. agreement to annual targets, guidance of scorecard metrics etc)
•Carry out monthly reporting vs plan to DevCo
•Coordinate weekly Commercial Leadership trading meetings – ensuring relevant reporting is available to make timely decisions/actions to ensure key commercial targets are achieved.
•Provide reporting into senior management team / other governance groups as required.
•Provide inputs to Finance for use in the group financial projections
•Responsible for providing product profitability reporting as required across the commercial department.
Qualifications:
•Educated to degree level or equivalent
•Experience of:
odeveloping commercial targets and KPIs
oanalysing market data/trends
oproviding evidence-based recommendations & influencing decisions
opresenting & writing reports on complex subjects for a range of audiences
•Excellent analytical and modelling skills
•Ability to think independently and draw conclusions
•Ability to understand the financial performance of businesses
•Experience of working in financial services and pensions industry preferable
•Professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent)
