Job description
Our Complex Case Manager will be essential in our complex enforcement cases:
* Managing a caseload, leading on investigating of our most complex enforcement cases, often involving multiple people or companies – working in an organised way, thinking constructively, and judging each case on its merits.
* Practically applying legislation, associated codes of practice and our guidance and policies - determining points to prove when pursuing an investigation.
* Interpreting, applying and making informed decisions about evidence and intelligence, to take appropriate action.
They will ensure:
* Best practise methods are used for recording investigations
* A focus on continuous improvement - so that our enforcement activities meet high standards
* High quality, effective and efficient delivery of our vision, objectives and organisational plans in line with our enforcement priorities.
They will also work effectively with others:
* Being responsible for providing advice, guidance and an escalation route for Operational Case Managers.
* Communicating and collaborating with a wide variety of colleagues – collaboratively across government and acting as a point of reference and advice for Companies House colleagues who identify suspicious activity.
To be eligible for this role you must meet the security requirements for Security Clearance (SC) level vetting. To gain SC level vetting you will need to have been a UK resident for a minimum of 3 years out of the last 5 years. For more details, please refer to the 'Things you need to know' section below.

You will be aligned to our Cardiff Office, where we are currently using a hybrid approach to the way we work. Companies House uses a blended interview technique, allowing us to find out more about you. We use the Success Profile framework and at interview we will use Success Profiles assessing the Behaviours listed in the advert and Strengths.

What will the process look like?
* We'll carry out a sift of applications. We may raise the score required at sift stage to progress to interview if we receive a high number of applications.
* At sift we may choose to take through the highest performing candidates to the next stage. If, after the final stage is completed and roles are unfilled, we will proceed to invite lower scoring candidates to interview.
* Successful candidates at sift will be invited to an in person interview at our Cardiff Offices.
* As part of the interview, there will be a scenario-based activity to assess the behaviour 'Making Effective Decisions'. The scenario will reflect a typical situation faced by a Complex Case Manager, and you'll be asked to share your thoughts and ideas on how you'd approach it with the panel.
* The lead criteria to distinguish between tied candidates will be: Making Effective Decisions.
* We'll sift all applications we receive week commencing 15th September 2025 and anticipate holding interviews in our Cardiff office week commencing 29th September 2025 with results being shared with all candidates early October. We anticipate this role starting from the middle of November onwards (pending Security Clearance approval). Please bear in mind these dates might need to change - we will keep you informed as you move through the process.
* Our interviews will include Success Profiles behaviour and strength based questions.
* If after interview you are not found appointable at the advertised grade you may be offered the lower grade role if you are considered to meet the skills, experience and behaviours for the lower level. The benchmark for appointing to the lower grade is set at the start of each campaign. All offers will be made in merit order.
* This recruitment campaign will keep a reserve list for 12 months. If you meet the requirements for this role but aren't offered after passing the interview, you'll be placed on the reserve list. Subject to business need, if a suitable position opens up during this time, we will reach out to individuals in merit order.
