EQUANS is looking for a Technical Services Supervisor working on behalf of our Tameside General Hospital contract in Ashton‑under‑Lyne. This role is a permanent full‑time position of 37.5 hours per week, offering a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview
Based at Tameside General Hospital, the Technical Services Supervisor will be responsible for the technical performance and maintenance of standards within the contract, providing guidance to others on site and demonstrating technical expertise in facilities management delivery to ensure compliant solutions and efficient customer service.
Responsibilities
* Accountable to the Technical Services Manager (TSM) for day‑to‑day supervision, monitoring and performance of the contract.
* Supervise the work flow throughout the team and work closely with the helpdesk to provide efficient and effective maintenance delivery.
* Lead a multidisciplinary mechanical/electrical/fabric workforce.
* Support TSM in planning and implementing changes to improve service and operational quality and customer satisfaction.
* Facilitate cooperation between Technical, Security, Helpdesk and Client staff.
* Balance and allocate Planned Works, Reactive Works and Lifecycle works to ensure contract compliance with SLA timeframes.
* Install, commission and service plant equipment and industrial furniture.
* Diagnose fault‑finding, debug and commission systems, monitor and assess ongoing machine/facility performance through the PPM programme, identifying any additional works required.
* Price minor works projects for both in‑house and contracted works.
* Maintain maintenance and other records to an appropriate standard in accordance with site policy.
* Take on Authorised Person, Competent Person or Responsible Person duties once fully trained and site aware.
* Interface with suppliers and service providers to meet service needs, organise priority workloads and meet deadlines.
* Carry out return‑to‑work interviews and other HR‑type interventions as necessary.
* Lead and organise team meetings, including delivery of toolbox talks and other training.
* Escalate issues to TSM as appropriate.
* Work under pressure, take ownership of problems and resolve them to completion.
* Supervise and participate in the on‑call system.
* Assist other EQUANS Healthcare contracts if required.
* Manage CAFM knowledge: run reports, interrogate the system and analyse workload.
* Train to become an authorised person across various disciplines.
Impact
The individual will play a vital role in EQUANS, working alongside an established technical team to ensure operations are legally and contractually compliant and represent excellence in service delivery.
Complexity
The primary complexities of the role involve managing workflow from Helpdesk/Maximo through to completion and sign‑off. Working in a live 24/7 hospital requires careful planning of maintenance works and close collaboration with stakeholders.
Qualifications
* Strong customer focus with experience delivering high standards of customer service; previous FM experience within a hospital or PFI environment is advantageous.
* Good knowledge of HTM systems is an advantage.
* Currently trained or experienced in RP/AP duties in at least two areas such as water management, ventilation, medical gases, etc.
* Apprentice trained and qualified/experienced within a mechanical/electrical background.
* Basic computer literacy.
* Understanding of HR related items.
* Sound awareness of risk assessment and safe working with equipment.
* Preferably experienced with HVAC, pump systems, medical gases, steam systems, pressure systems, water systems and legionella.
* Knowledge of Building Management Systems.
* Sound knowledge of practical implementation of Health & Safety.
* Full driving licence required.
* Authorised Person experience.
