Service Maintenance Technician – HVAC
As an HVAC Maintenance Technician at Tesco, covering Thirsk, Catterick and Northallerton areas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping our environments comfortable, safe, and fully operational for both customers and colleagues. Your expertise in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems will ensure our stores remain energy‑efficient and compliant with safety standards.
You’ll be part of a skilled maintenance team, responsible for both planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs across a wide range of HVAC systems and equipment. From diagnosing faults to carrying out repairs and optimising system performance, your work will help ensure a seamless shopping experience for thousands of customers every day.
This is a hands‑on, mobile role that requires strong technical knowledge, a proactive approach to problem‑solving, and a commitment to high standards of service and safety. Responsibilities
* Ensure all Tesco sites are a safe and functioning environment for customers and colleagues.
* Follow the planned work schedule to achieve first‑time fix, maximising productivity and effectiveness.
* Deliver high‑quality work standards across the estate, with year‑on‑year improvement.
* Use problem‑solving skills and innovation to identify and develop solutions for key and common issues.
* Own tasks at a local level through to completion/resolution, informing key stakeholders through the process where required.
* Use mobile devices; phone and tablet, to drive best practice in work completion and updates.
* Use business systems to drive best practice in work order reporting to support asset lifecycle management.
* Support KPI delivery, through the practical application of skill sets, and effective use of business systems to drive achievement of your own KPIs.
Requirements
* Full driving licence.
* Health & Safety awareness.
* Communication & stakeholder management.
* Office 365 knowledge.
* Level 3 City & Guilds or equivalent Mechanical Engineering/Engineering.
* Refrigeration and AC C&G 6187, 7189, 6090 or NVQ.
* Heating & Ventilation C&G 7188, 6288, 6188 or NVQ.
* Plumbing & Heating C&G 4467, 3345, 6189, 6035 or NVQ.
* C&G 2079 – F‑Gas and ODS regulations.
* CCN1 – Core gas safety (Gas).
* CENWAT.
* CDGA1 – Commercial natural gas and LPG direct‑fired heating appliances.
* ICPN1 – Installation first‑fix commercial pipework.
* CIGA1 – Commercial indirect fired heating appliances.
* CORT1 – Commercial overhead radiant heaters.
* TPCP1A – Testing and direct purging of low‑pressure commercial pipework not exceeding 1 m³.
* TPCP1 – Testing and direct purging of commercial pipework exceeding 1 m³ in volume up to 7 bar.
* UNVENTED Hot water Systems Certs G3.
* CDGA1 – Commission service repair & breakdown of commercial direct‑fired heating appliances & equipment – NG & LPG.
