Quality Inspector

Main duties/responsibilities of the role
* Complete first off inspection, batch inspection and incoming goods inspection, against the current drawings and specifications.
* Working with inspection plans.
* Some knowledge of Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIRs) and First Article Inspection Report (F.A.I.R).
* Visually inspect components and when required use magnification to check critical sealing faces.
* Check components from CNC machines ensure the required surface finish is achieved.
* Inspect sub-assemblies against drawings, using a variety of metrology equipment, including the use of Faro Arm (CMM) equipment.
* Working with very tight tolerances, have a good understand of geometric tolerancing, datum points relating to complex components.
* Visually inspecting welds for any noticeable defects.
* Recording any deviations, non-conformances from drawing. Specifications.
* Creating concessions and reject notes when required.
* Ensuring the latest drawing revisions are available
* Having good communicational skills when dealing with complexed issues concerning quality.
* Working with ISO 2859 -1:1999 sampling procedure for inspection by attributes.
* Updating information as required on the company’s ERP system, relating to inspection requirements.
Essentials skills & experience
* Experience working to ISO 9001.2015
* At least 3 years’ experience working in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment and possess a good understanding of Quality and Process management tools and methodology. Examples SPC, AQL,
* Experience of using CMM or Faro Arm devices and proficient with a range of metrology equipment typically used in machine shop environments.
* Able to read and understand technical drawings and engineering specifications.
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Knowledge or experience of welding and fabrication processes would be beneficial
* Previous experience of working in the vacuum industry would be advantageous.
Desirable Qualifications
* Qualified to BTech/HNC/HND level in a Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing discipline.
