Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Plumbing and Heating Engineer based at Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny. You will provide multi-skilled engineering expertise across various mechanical and electrical equipment and fabric, providing cross trade work to the service and perform engineering maintenance work including activities which are complex and/or non-routine. This post is 37.5 per week to be worked 08:00 - 16:00, Monday to Friday with the need to cover shifts when required to meet the needs of the service. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Responsibilities
* To understand, receive and give technical instructions to other Maintenance workers, assistants and contractors.
* Liaise with all levels of senior clinical and non-clinical staff at ward/department level regarding maintenance tasks enabling work tasks to be carried out with minimum disruption to patient support services (i.e. Heating, power, nurse call system, ventilation etc) and patient care.
* Liaise appropriately with external Suppliers and Contractors, dealing with technical queries and information, signing contractors in and carrying out site induction as required.
* Undertaking testing of the mechanical and electrical systems and equipment in wards and other departments to safeguard the integrity of the mechanical/electrical requirements to areas.
* Work across departments to perform cross-trade engineering maintenance and contribute to complex/non-routine tasks.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Completed an accredited Mechanical apprenticeship training course to a minimum level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent plus relevant training or equivalent experience, plus additional training and developed skills e.g. air conditioning
