Job Opportunity: Domestic Assistant (Healthcare Cleaner)
Location: North Devon District Hospital
Hours: 14 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday. 17.00 - 20.30)
Pay Rate: £12.51 – £22.89 per hour
We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Domestic Assistant (Healthcare Cleaner) to join our team at North Devon District Hospital. You will play a key role in ensuring patients, staff, and visitors experience a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at all times.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out routine and ad-hoc cleaning duties in line with national cleanliness standards and Trust policies.
* Maintain a hygienic, safe patient environment, helping to minimise the risk of healthcare-associated infections.
* Empty and dispose of domestic and clinical waste according to infection prevention policies.
* Replenish consumables (soap, paper towels, toilet rolls, etc.).
* Operate cleaning equipment safely, following COSHH and PPE requirements.
* Communicate courteously with patients, staff, and visitors, always providing a professional and caring service.
* Work flexibly across different hospital areas when required.
What We’re Looking For
* Previous experience in a cleaning or domestic role (healthcare setting desirable).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Compassionate, respectful, and professional approach to patients and colleagues.
* Good communication and customer service skills.
* Physically able to carry out cleaning duties, including moving equipment and light furniture.
* High personal hygiene standards.
A satisfactory criminal record check is required for this position.
