An independent co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 2 to 18 in Street, Somerset. The school caters to around 1,300 students daily and provides a core feeding offer of breakfast, lunch and supper, along with vibrant hospitality provision. This is a 52‑week contract that operates 7 days a week, with additional weekend residential activity for boarders. The extensive campus setting and outstanding facilities in the heart of the Somerset countryside provide a key benefit to this location.
We have a fantastic opportunity for you as General Assistant to join this location.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the team with serving customers, replenishing stocks, and cleaning.
* Prepare all service areas for the day's business relating to each meal service.
* Set up, serve, clear, clean, and store all food, beverage, or equipment required for special functions.
* Prepare basic food for sale/service, following good hygiene and safety practices and meeting the specified standard.
* Restock and replenish consumables during service periods, anticipating customer needs to achieve optimum service delivery.
* Empty, remove, and store rubbish or recycle it in the correct place.
* Be prepared to work evenings and/or weekends for functions and school events.
* Ensure company food standards are adhered to and wastage is controlled.
* Follow all Food Hygiene and Health & Safety policies and allergen control procedures.
Required Skills
* Strong team‑working and listening skills, ability to work on own initiative, and impeccable personal presentation and hygiene.
* Adaptable and flexible as necessary. Reliable, honest, and demonstrates an open, attentive approach to customer service.
* Willingness to learn new skills and take responsibility.
* Ability to manage moderate heavy lifting, carrying, and pushing.
Knowledge / Competencies
* Hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification.
* Demonstrate a reasonable or good understanding, use of verbal English.
* Demonstrate a reasonable or good standard of written English and reading skills.
* Previous customer service or food preparation experience is preferred.
