NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

The purpose of this role is to support clinical care by providing a comprehensive and timely outpatient and inpatient transcription service to Clinicians and other clinical staff. Make a real difference for people living with chronic pain across Greater Glasgow & Clyde. Join a supportive admin team working with Medics, Psychologists, Nurses and AHPs. You’ll be based in the Pain Office alongside three secretaries, with other South team members in adjacent offices.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a or a NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

This post is based in The New Victoria Hospital.

The shift pattern for this post is: 08:00 - 16:00 (three days of the week).

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Key responsibilities:

The following sets out the core responsibilities of the Audio Typist. The frequency and extent to which the post holder carries out all duties may vary from speciality to specialty:

1. Transcription of dictation received from outpatient clinics, letters, medical and reports for external agencies (e.g Department for Work and Pensions), discharge summaries
2. Data entry onto clinical systems to support patient follow up requirements
3. Filing clinic letter via Winscribe into Clinical Portal (for EPR)
4. Ensure compliance with quality standards and timescales for typing turnaround o Provide telephone cover within department
5. Scanning documents onto Clinical Portal
6. Processing of SCI Gateway referrals
7. Printing of all typed letters o Shared responsibility for Health & Safety within the office area.
8. Participate in Personal Development Planning & Review
9. Comply with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), Access to Health Records Act, Freedom of Information Act and legislation issued in relation to confidential data e.g. Caldicott
10. Undertake Statutory & Mandatory training as required
11. Promote and display NHS Scotland core values of care and compassion, dignity and respect, openness, honesty and responsibility and quality and teamwork in the discharge of duties
12. Be a role model for NHSGGC organisational values, demonstrating professionalism and a behavioural approach which promotes the principles of dignity and respect for all

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

13. Excellent organisational & communication skills
14. Advanced keyboard skills and accurate transcription speeds
15. Proficient use of computer systems
16. Be able to prioritise own workload
17. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate an all-round professional manner, especially when under pressure with deadlines and conflicting interests
18. Ability to work independently or as part of a team
19. Proficient in English
20. Medical terminology
21. Ability to fulfil criteria as outlined in the job description
